Trowbridge was the fifth Swindon in Social Scaffolding's 6-venue, Arts Council-funded tour in the South West of England between April and November 2023. in 2022, before the tour, we faciliated two pilot exhibitions in Taunton and at the Emerge Showcase at Bath Spa University in Bath. We also exhibited at two other Emerge Showcases in 2023. Please visit the Social Scaffolding website for full details. Our plan had originally been that our fifth venue would be in Yeovil and that it would be part of Somerset Art Weeks. Unfortunately, however, we weren't able to secure a suitable venue there, so we had to look further afield... and we found the old M & Co, a large, double- fronted empty shop on one of the main thoroughfares in Trowbridge.
This time, Juliet installed a fabulous extension to her Human Nest participatory installation. weaving greenery through three changing cubicles near her Urban Rookery (with new extra bright, coloured lights). Alyson's Synapse was in the centre of the space. My Parts of me, Living sculptures and a large making space were all at the front of the shop, with some of the sculptures in the shop window. The Social knitwork installation was in a separate space, to the right of the main doors.
