seam collective's A Visible THREAD exhibition, Llantarnam Grange, Cwmbran, 17 Feb - 4 May 2024

This was the third iteration of seam collective's Arts Council-funded 4-venue exhibition tour in the South West of England. We also did a bonus A Visible THREAD exhibition at Wirth Gallery at Sherborne Girls' School in Sherborne, Dorset in January 2024. The official tour began in May 2023 and will finish at the end of August 2024. It's been wonderful to be part of it.

Quite unusually, I wasn't able to help set up this exhibition as I was facilitating Glowing and Growing in Worcester. I usually volunteer to transport work and to help set up as I love seeing at least some of the other seam members... and I love setting up exhibitions! Sometimes, I have to be there as I need to install my work site responsively, but this time, I couldn't be present and it reminded me how wonderful it is to be part of such a brilliant collective. Many thanks to the team seam who set up this exhibition!

Here's a walkthough video of the exhibition:

I knew I wouldn't be there to install my Stash sculpture site responsively, as I had for A Visible THREAD at Black Swan Arts in September 2023, so I decided to exhibit it on an adapted mannequin instead:

I'm very interested in the way that a lot of my knitted and stitched work, including this sculpture can take many forms. It's a shapeshifter. I have written an in-depth blog post about Stash for seam, called Stash busting and shapeshifting. Here's a video of Stash, as shapeshifter, taking many different forms:
