I was delighted to have had my installation Red is the colour of.... 2019-21 pre-selected for the New Contemporaries, of course, but I fet oddly bereft when I sent the 39 knitted sculptures for the second round of selection. What was my response? I knitted another 40+, naturally!
These are similar in appearance to the original Red is the colour of... sculptures, but differ in that many of them have knitted holes as part of their form.
Here is a video of the knitting in progress from March -August 2022. As ever, I knitted them whenever and wherever I could, in my 'anywhere and everywhere studio'!
I have subsequenty installed them several times in the last couple of months:
- with an antique Danish chest of drawers that I inherited from my parents this year
- as part of an immersive installation, as a Red room in a disused kitchen in an empty cafe in Taunton's Orchard shopping centre with Social Scaffolding
- as part of a second immersive Red room for Social Scaffolding's Emerge Showcase at Bath Spa University
